Middlemarch Podcast No. 3

Hey folks - this isn’t exactly Cedar AV related, but hopefully still of interest!

I just uploaded episode number three in my series of podcasts leading up to the release of my record in June on Audiobulb Records.

Here’s this week’s tracklist, again with forgettable notes:

  • 01 Solvent - When the Sun Hits
This is from the “Blue Skied An Clear” Morr Music compilation of Slowdive covers.  Slowdive is one of my favorite bands, and this is a pretty stellar interpretation I think.

  • 02 4 Hero - The Action
I’ve been on a big nostalgia kick for all the old acid jazz and drum n’ bass I used to saturate my listening with in the late 90s.  4 Hero’s Two Pages was one of the first records if its kind I ever heard - lots of good memories.

  • 03 Walter Meego - Forever
My band opened for these guys last year (or sheesh was it 2006?) and they blew me away then.  This is a track from their new record - you should drop everything and preorder it immediately: http://www.myspace.com/waltermeego

  • 04 Second Hand Citizen - Winter
Drew of Second Hand Citizen just sent me this rough cut - I made the beat, and Drew is rapping and playing guitar on it.  Mike’s part to follow soon.  Check them out here: http://www.myspace.com/secondhandcitizen

  • 05 Jazzanova - Absolute Space
Remember how I said I was on an acid jazz kick?

  • 06 So - B
This is Markus Popp’s most recent album I think.  Can that be true?  It’s from 2002 I’m pretty sure, and is all deconstructions of Japanese folk singer Eriko Toyoda.  It’s also incredibly gorgeous.

  • 07 Robb Monn - It Is The Pull of Each to Every Other
Robb is one half of the fuzzcore group “Ohler” - much more of their stuff here: http://leemonn.com/ohler/

Download the mix here.

30 Minutes, 40 megabytes.  Enjoy!
